It also explains how recent laws banning use of cellphones while driving and placing restrictions on the hours that teenagers can drive could reduce the number of negligent accidents.
Ignition interlock laws in Indiana may fall short of protecting drivers – Requiring all drivers convicted of DUI to install ignition interlock devices can reduce the number of drunk drivers on the road. But unlike many other states, Indiana does not require all people convicted of DUI to install such devices. Indiana also provides some people arrested for DUI to obtain temporary driving privileges. Until the legislature acts to address this situation, serious and fatal DUI accidents will continue to happen on our roads.
